STILL DRE - The Comeback!

The name of Dr.Dre's major hit and the whole track was inspired by Dre's frustration with critics who thought he had lost his touch after taking a "music break".
It was his way of asserting that he was still a force to be reckoned with in the music industry. It is a classic in the hip hop world, representing California like no other, here are some cool facts about it:
- Comeback single: "Still D.R.E." was the lead single from Dr. Dre's album "2001," released in 1999. It marked Dre's return to the music scene after a lengthy hiatus following his departure from Death Row Records.
- Collaborative effort: The song was co-written by Dr. Dre, Jay-Z, and The D.O.C. Although Jay-Z isn't featured as a performer on the track, he contributed significantly to the lyrics.
- Iconic piano riff: The memorable piano loop that forms the backbone of the track was composed by Scott Storch, who was relatively unknown at the time but went on to become a prominent producer in his own right. BUT, it was actually played by musician Melvoin-Bergman on the final recording.
- Chart oddity: Despite its massive popularity and enduring legacy, "Still D.R.E." only reached No. 93 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. However, it performed much better on hip-hop specific charts.
The music video, directed by Hype Williams, became one of the most popular videos on MTV at the time. It featured Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg cruising through Los Angeles in lowrider cars, listen and feel the piano :)
